Colorful lakeside towns, centuries old villas, olive groves, vineyards, crystal blue water, mountain views in every direction, and some of the most peaceful evenings you've ever experienced. It has all of the romance people dream about when they think of Italy, but with a slower pace that invites you to actually soak it all in.

That's exactly why Austin and Lacey chose it. Their Lake Garda elopement wasn't meant to replace their wedding day, it was an extension of it. Six months earlier, they celebrated with their family and friends at home, surrounded by the people they love most. But they also wanted something that was just for them, not because their wedding wasn't enough, but because they wanted to celebrate their marriage in a way that reflected who they are and create memories they would carry with them for the rest of their lives.

As if the day couldn't get any better, we ended the evening in Lazise, one of the most charming little towns on Lake Garda. After dinner, we met our boat captain and headed out for a private sunset cruise across the lake. It is still one of the most magical evenings I've ever photographed.

Storm clouds rolled across one side of the lake while the sun broke through on the other, lighting up the mountains in the most incredible way. We passed historic villas, castle ruins, and tiny lakeside towns as Austin and Lacey laughed, talked, and simply enjoyed being together. They weren't thinking about photos. They were fully living the experience, and I just had the privilege of documenting it.

When we returned to shore, the lights of Lazise reflected across the water, and before the night ended, they looked at each other and decided to jump into the lake in their wedding clothes beneath ancient castle ruins. It wasn't planned. It wasn't on a timeline. It was simply one of those moments they'll never forget.

If there's one thing I'll always remember about Austin and Lacey, it's how intentional they are. Lacey spent nearly ten years as a wedding planner, so she knows exactly how much work goes into creating beautiful weddings. More importantly, she knows that years from now, the things you'll remember most aren't perfectly timed events or carefully planned details. You'll remember how it felt.

You'll remember making your own wedding bands together. Reading vows when no one else is listening. Watching the sun disappear behind the mountains from the middle of Lake Garda. Jumping into the lake because you never wanted the night to end.
